The UFC Middleweight champion, who recently reclaimed his championship, made it clear that he was supporting Nigeria over Ghana in the Jollof rivalry while speaking on a recent podcast. Adesanya, who grew up in Abeka Lapaz, revealed that during his brief visit to Accra, he had the chance to sample a variety of Ghanaian specialties, including Waakye, Banku, and of course, the hotly fought Jollof. He asserts that Nigeria's Jollof stands out based on his personal experience.

If you know you know, I spent an entire year and a half living in Accra Abeka-Lapaz in Ghana. We are not envious since Jolllof originated in Nigeria, but I was in Ghana and I sliced the Waakye and Banku," Adesanya remarked. The MMA fighter responded, "Nigerians," when asked which nation produced the finest. Adesanya was challenged on the program by a Puerto Rican and a Mexican who asserted that Ghana has the best jollof. "How is this Puerto Rican talking to me about Jollof?" the surprised MMA fighter questioned.
