The 2023 Women's World Cup is currently taking place, and Asisat Oshoala, a Nigerian football player for Barcelona Femeni and the Super Falcons, claimed that her father was not pleased with her choice of celebration. Oshoala increased Nigeria's advantage against Australia to 3-1 with a goal against them, and she celebrated by taking off her shirt and heading to the sidelines to join her teammates in the celebration.
Some football fans frowned upon her celebration, but many others saw nothing wrong with it. One of the latter is purportedly Oshoala's father. The 2018 African Woman Footballer of the Year addressed her father's response while posting pictures of her goal celebration on Instagram. Oshoala recognized in her post that her father did not approve of the celebration she chose, but she said that life is a collection of moments.

"My dad is definitely not happy with my choice of celebration, but then again, life is a collection of MOMENTS," she remarked. Oshoala, one of Nigeria's most accomplished female footballers, has represented elite European clubs. She has received numerous accolades for her on-field accomplishments, including four consecutive wins for African Women's Footballer of the Year.
Some football fans have criticized her goal celebration at the Women's World Cup as inappropriate, while others have defended it as a cute way to celebrate.
