Mahama Concludes Eastern Region Campaign Tour, Promises Change and Development

As the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, former President John Dramani Mahama has reached a major milestone with the successful completion of his campaign trip in the Eastern Region. At a rally in Kyebi on his tour, Mahama spoke to NDC supporters and accused the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) of lying, pointing to unmet pledges such giving $1 million to each constituency every year. He underlined that the Abuakwa South Constituency had not to receive its fair share of the funding, in spite of the NPP's assurances.

Mahama also emphasized the NPP's broken pledges to build factories and provide jobs for young people, which have led to widespread unemployment and hardship. In the next presidential and parliamentary elections, he urged local citizens to support candidates other than the NPP.

The long-term effects of the NPP's economic mismanagement also worried Mahama, who said it might take Ghana 20 to 30 years to recover from the financial crisis and long-term debt obligations.

The former President also championed his running mate, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, as Ghana's potential first female vice-president, emphasizing the NDC's commitment to gender parity. With his Eastern Region campaign tour concluded, Mahama is poised to continue his presidential campaign, rallying support from voters across Ghana.
