A university student beats his girlfriend mercilessly after she denied his public marriage proposal [Watch Video]

When his fiancée declined his public marriage proposal, a Nigerian guy beat her to death. The incident is captured in the video below, which has since gone viral. According to reports, the incident happened in the University of Benin's dormitory's parking lot.

"I can't accept your proposal," she was heard saying as she declined his offer. The man was so humiliated that he cried out, "How can you tell me no; no for what?" He then lost his temper.

The majority of the responses on social media from Nigerian citizens criticizing the man's activities. The next day, the man in the video, Alaoma Joseph, released a statement in which he claimed that the clip was a joke and that he is not now and never will be a "woman beater." This came about as a result of the harsh criticism he received online from Nigerian celebs and other users.

John said:

"The video was just a publicity gimmick for the English and Literature Students Association stage play; I am not a woman beater."
